Day 53- 5:30am

1. Accidentally uploaded out of order. Whatever.

2. We reshaved Casey's head on the coldest day of the winter so far (-11F/-24C). Just for fun. It had nothing to do with chemo or anything. Some of you may remember Casey had shaved her head before we found out she had cancer, but only had it for a couple months before she started chemo, and then the stubble fell out. So we did it again. :-)

3. Casey and I pulled an all-nighter before her surgery, because we had to wake up at 5:30 anyway, and we're pretty firmly on a second shift schedule and weren't even tired until after 3am. So this is us before heading out the door.

4. Her surgery went well. They couldn't place the epidural because of her fucked up spine, so she woke up in more pain. I visited her today, though, and she's already eating a little bit and they had her sitting up at the edge of her bed.

They removed four nodules from her left lung and sent them to pathology. The lung surgeon also ran into an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in spinal surgeries and had him come meet me and Mom, and he's going to meet with Casey when she's doing better, and evaluate her back. I expect he'll recommend rods- I'm sure Casey will be very excited. Although those scars would be so freaking bad ass. She wouldn't even need tattoos with the thoracotomy and rod scars, holy crap.
