Kite Extraction Technology
Very handy kite extraction technology
I used it to get the kite out of the tree seen in this photo:

and a couple of others.
It is a racquetball ball duct taped to some heavy duty string. You simply swing the ball through the air in circles, releasing it so that it flies over the kite string between the kite and the tree. Then pull down on both ends of the extraction string, bringing the kite down to the ground.
