As much as I love taking photos of people at Ithaca College - where I stay throughout the majority of the year - I love the pictures of people on Peaks and in Portland more than anything else. I like to go back in time and see/catch up with people I'd grown up knowing. Even if I see them just about every day on Peaks, the feel of including them in the project makes it all such a satisfying experience..
This picture was taken in the late evening (10:30-ish? Not *too* late, I guess), at the dock. Ella and Paul Gross were just hanging around. I think this was the night - or maybe it was a few nights before - when I could hear, from my house, a huge crowd of islanders and tourists drunkenly singing "Night Moves" at Jones Landing. The song was stuck in my head for the next week or so. Now, whenever I hear it, I my mind drifts back to Peaks.
