The Hope of Spring | Aviva
Hello my friends, I hope this post finds you all well and in good health and spirits ❤️ It’s full blown Spring almost into Summer now here in a East Texas. The wildflowers have taken over the sides of the roads and highways in beautiful and bountiful blankets of yellows, reds and oranges. I never saw wildflowers like I’ve seen them here. A few days ago we were on our way to one of our favorite lakes and stopped at a lonely gas station halfway there to get gas for the drive. Off to the side of the gas station was at least a full acre of these gorgeous flowers nodding cheerily in the evening breeze. The light was just past sunset but still bright enough to achieve a beautiful soft glow. Liat who is ever eager to play among the flowers was more than happy to let me lead her to the flowers where she promptly set to picking herself a bouquet of flowers. She loves the flowers mostly because they are fragrant and she loves anything that smells good. Ironically we almost named her Aviva which is Spring in Hebrew. We decided against it since her name was so close to my youngest son - Avi. I’m glad too because I make enough mistakes as it is when calling out the names of my kids. Liat fits her but I will always hold a fond spot in my heart for Aviva as well. Spring was never one of my favorite seasons in Colorado. It seemed like the Winter with its impromptu snowfalls and chilling degrees would hold out with a cruel superiority over Spring most of the time until one day it was Summer. It’s been an enjoyable experience to find beauty in a season I’d never really had the opportunity to enjoy. The heat will be here soon enough but even that didn’t keep us indoors last year. We’ve adjusted to the heat and I dare say we’ve taken it well in stride as we still love to be outdoors as much as possible. I am full of hope for this coming year, my hope rises up every time we pass the fields of blooming flowers. It’s a reminder that everything blooms again - life blooms again. It may not be tomorrow but new life and healing comes. I hope you all are well, much love always, Rachel
