Summer Evenings
It's been awhile since I posted a picture of one of my children. I'm acutely aware that portraits are not as popular on Flickr. I've even had some well meaning messages sent to my Flickr inbox telling me I would have better success in choosing one or the other to post. I suppose this is true... I started an Instagram page for the sole purpose of landscapes @rachelbrokawphotography
but Flickr has and probably will always be a way of just sharing my favorite pictures no matter what they are. So I hope this doesn't bother anyone but there will always probably be sprinkles of my children mixed onto my Flickr page. So here's fair warning:) This picture is from a few days ago. It had stayed cloudy and cool but no lightning so I was willing to venture out into this open space. The trail curves through rolling hills before climbing to this large open space. The sun is front at this spot and perfect for cloudy days for the soft light. Elijah who is now 2, still has short legs that make it hard to keep up with all the hills. This Radio Flyer has came in handy on so many occasions. When we reached the top I pulled him into the field to quickly get this shot of the cloudy skies and gentle light in the clouds. I love using my 85mm for the soft bokeh it brings and also so I can back up further away so he forgets I'm even taking pictures. I love it when that happens!! There is a fire that is in somewhat close proximity - not dangerously so but enough to have smokey air. Makes my heart sad to see all the fires again in Colorado. This also meant a fire ban was in place for 4th of July in most places. I hope this coming Winter yields more moisture and that this dry trend stops somehow. Many of my favorite areas are currently on fire. Prayers and good thoughts for rain are much appreciated. Me and the kids have terrible colds and will probably spend the weekend at home with the AC blasting catching up on favorite movies haha. Sending much love to each one of you. Thank you as always for taking the time to read my thoughts and support me on my photography adventure!
