Today has been a day.
There's a whole lot of not thinking going on in the world. It starts looking like a simple oversight but really is it? Or is it just being sloppy because nobody bothers anymore? Or is it cool to be stupid suddenly?
In the 20s it was essential to be witty, clever, quick...to be 'in the know'
Now we have the Idiocracy.
So here we are.
A confession of sorts...
I am not cool. I hold a PhD, in Ecology. I have read these texts, taught from them and published original peer reviewed research. It is not glamorous. It is work. It is up until 3am, worried about if the fish will live long enough so I can cut out their little brains and see what happened to them. It is taking Calc II and never using it ever again because you have to.
And all this is in reality EASY, compared to being a parent and teaching a child to love learning and to be responsible for themselves, and to THINK.
