Walking in Bucharest - 2025-La Mita Biciclista 2
ROMANIA
The Mița Biciclista House (also known as the Teodorescu House, after Constantin Teodorescu) is a historical monument located in the municipality of Bucharest. Its name comes from Maria Mihăescu.
Designed by architect N. C. Mihăescu, the Beaux-Arts house with Art Nouveau influences has richly ornamented facades, with balconies and reliefs with cherubs, lions and cupids. The name of the house recalls the name of the owner Maria Mihăescu, the first woman in Bucharest to ride a bicycle, known for the extravagant and luxurious life she led.
The house was renovated in 2022 - During the consolidation and restoration of the building, all the roof moldings and fireplaces of historical value were preserved. The roof trusses and walls were consolidated throughout the building, and the carpentry of the monumental bodies was fully restored, with a recovery of more than 50% of the parquet of the main body. At the same time, the building envelope was completed, including for the wooden structures.
