Promises
The wait is excruciating and humiliating
It tightens the stomach and blurs the vision
The evening is fading to give way
To the darkness of the night
The lights dim and the streets
They desert
No one will come knocking
At her door
The promises of love
Are like broken petals
Carried away by the wind through unknown lands
The intense pain does not subside
But pride is reborn and
Like a wounded tiger
Looking at the sky with pride
She swears to herself that... tomorrow...
She will use her master's lessons...
