Berlin - The Wall 1989

The 'Sinterklaas' (Dutch Santa Claus if you wish) is Major Heuberger, our commanding officer. Here he tries to go to East Berlin via Checkpoint Charlie.

 

One month after the opening of The Wall. I was in the Dutch Army at the time (you had to in those days), stationed in Germany. This was a weekend trip to Berlin.
