About The New Training Center/Café (Inner Sanctum)
The highly anticipated new Training Center at UCB Theatre Sunset will house 14 classrooms, with three of those classrooms dedicated to sketch writing. The Training Center will have a full reception area, conference room and administrative offices. The Inner Sanctum has a highly-trained team of baristas who will be serving everything from fresh brewed coffee and espresso from Stumptown Coffee Roasters to hand-made sandwiches and snacks. The Inner Sanctum’s work-space and gallery provides separation from the counter service environment, where diners, students, and performers can relax and hang out on the ample couches, lounge chairs, and tables. All the artwork seen in the Inner Sanctum is from the Diane and Sandy Besser Collection.
ABOUT UPRIGHT CITIZENS BRIGADE
The Upright Citizens Brigade was founded and is currently owned by Amy Poehler, Matt Besser, Ian Roberts and Matt Walsh. With two theaters in New York and one in Los Angeles, the UCB continues to offer the best and most innovative improv and sketch comedy every day of the week on both coasts. Among their esteemed alumni include several performers and writers for Saturday Night Live, Parks and Recreation, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, New Girl, The Mindy Project, The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon, Late Night with Seth Meyers, The Colbert Report, Conan, Key & Peele, Broad City, The League, Veep, Silicon Valley, The Hangover, Bridesmaids, Anchorman, The Heat and countless other films, commercials and television shows. Performers who have gained success continue to lend their talents to the theatre and accredited training centers in both New York and Los Angeles. Classes are taught by all working professional comedians, including faculty that write for shows such asKroll Show, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, @midnight, and many more. As part of its diversity program, UCB recently concluded another round of diversity scholarships giving out 60 credits. Since 2009, UCB has given out free classes to 206 individuals with diverse backgrounds.
The Upright Citizens Brigade continues the spread of their unique brand of no-holds barred comedy to audiences across the country through UCBcomedy.com. UCBcomedy is the virtual home of all things comedy from improv, sketch and standup to pranks, jokes, podcasts, f'ed up and illegal videos and much more from the performers, teachers, students and friends who have made the Upright Citizens Brigade the leading brand of comedy in the country.
