Mule Deer buck

Tuolumne Meadows, Yosemite National Park, CA

My wife and I first saw this Mule Deer buck, along with his herd of about six or seven, in our binoculars from roadside while driving by. The herd was quite a distance away when initially spotted, about a third to half a mile. We decided to hike through the meadows (zigzagging, to be more precise, to avoid getting the herd alarmed) in order to get a closer look. Eventually it took us almost an hour and we manage to get close enough to take several pictures of this buck and some members of his herd. I also got several nasty mosquito bites as a bonus.
