I was out pruning a bush yesterday afternoon and was bitten by this Asian tiger mosquito, which I slapped as I felt it bite. Instead of falling off or getting squashed, it stayed like this on my arm as I brought the cuttings into the garage to put in the yard waste container and as I got my camera and set it into super macro mode to get this shot. Coincidentally, a friend shared on Facebook yesterday an article (see first comment) about how the chikungunya virus has hit the U.S. from the Caribbean, a disease which is spread by this very mosquito. Here's another article about what diseases it can carry.
Zoe Bear and I are doing well. Thanks for caring.
