Ark

I had seen a shot of this boat and track in Black & White Photography magazine before going to Dungeness and it seemed to summarise the area - a decaying boat and random ironwork (although this track leads across the shingle and to the sea and was probably used to help winch craft from the shore).

 

This shot is taken in full sunset light - the sort of blood warmth of colour that lasts for perhaps ten minutes, but it's a compromise. I wanted to be lower and to include more of the track at a different angle but that would have meant my shadow being in shot. Behind me are two sheds and the sun set between them, and I'm perched on old ropes, pots and a few tyres so it's hand-held.
