Lock 46 and Bridge 47

Littleborough

The Rochdale Canal is a broad canal. It runs for 32 miles through 91 locks from Castlefield Junction in Manchester, where it joins the Bridgewater Canal, to Sowerby Bridge Junction in West Yorkshire, where it joins the Calder and Hebble Navigation.

Lock number 46 is called Bent House Lock, bridge number 47 is called Windy Bank Bridge. The bridge was built during the construction of the canal in 1804 to allow farm traffic and pedestrians access to farmland on either side of the canal.
