12by12 Challenge #9 - SEX
The Challenge:
Take a photograph that will embarrass you and make your audience uncomfortable.

The Response:
I'm in my 40's and my teenage years seem like such ancient history. However my elderly parents are in the process of moving house an a lot of my old stuff has been dumped on me as part of their downsize. As I went through the boxes and came across all sorts of childhood memories, both good and bad. I used some of these as an inspiration for this challenge.
Image one is called SEX. For some reason that I can't remember, when I first started having sex in my late teens I kept all the empty condom boxes in a tin box. The box was full, so maybe once I filled it I gave up keeping the offending items. So I unpacked the boxes and made the word sex out of them. The lighting is an attempt to create a bedroom style mood just for added effect.
Image two is called Porn. These days the internet is full of pornography but back when I was a teenager the only way you saw a naked women was if you were either given, found or plucked up the courage to buy a porn mag. While going through the boxes from my parents I found a small stash of old porn mags from the 80's and early 90's. Once again this was a nostalgic but embarrassing trip down memory lane. I went for my fisheye lens to create voyeuristic look and a wide aperture to reduce some of the detail.
Even showing my wife these images was embarrassing and I hope they manage to strike a chord with some others as well.
