#26 - 26 by 26 – Viewing the World from a different Angle.
Challenge #26:
I want you to make an inspired and beautiful contribution to the culture that you are a part. Document the process with an image.
– Simon Høgsberg
In late 2012 I helped form a small group of photographers known as the Shutter Guerrillas. The idea was to go beyond the boundaries of normal image making whenever possible. We go out on regular photography based missions with a plan to have life affirming experiences and capture them through high quality images.
Seven of the group presently have a photographic exhibition taking place in Lincoln, which is split over two distinctive themes. The first theme was "Lincolnshire's Hidden Heritage", which had great feedback and ended in mid-February. The second and present exhibition theme is "Nocturnal Lincolnshire". This was an ideal opportunity for me display some images that were originally created for the 26 by 26. These images only exist because I was inspired by the challenges set over the last year. I ended up using three 26 by 26 entries out of the eight frames I have on display:
#19 – Back To The Future
#20 – Life's too short not to live it up a little
#21 – Neon Ripples
For the final 26 by 26 challenge I've created this "off the wall" B&W self-portrait, shot in the exhibition space at the Museum of Lincolnshire Life. It aims to sum up both my year of 26 by 26 challenges and also the climax of a successful exhibition. I look forward to being inspired and challenged once again by the year three project.
