Thai by the numbers - 52
This is another one of those "adventurous" selections at Thai Bangkok. It's number 52, Ntses Tuav Kuo Txob (spicy crushed flsh): Fried catfish fillet frled tlll brown, crushed with lemon grass, ginger, scalllons, Thai basil & chill pepper.
Those who have followed along in this series may recall my relative uneasiness with seafood, so I approached today's dinner as a bit of a chore, an obligation - just another step toward completing the entire 54-item menu, in numerical order. Turns out that apprehension was unwarranted, because this one was a beauty! The words that came to mind as I enjoyed the first few forkfuls were aromatic, minty, spicy, and crunchy. It's a "fresh" meal that would be perfect for a hot summer evening.
You know what? This is a fish dish I'd order again.
