Moonhouse

The Moon refracting on the lighthouse windows on Tiritiri Matangi Island.

The Tiritiri lighthouse was first lit on 1st January 1865, and is the oldest lighthouse still operating in New Zealand. I have been wanting to shoot this lighthouse for years, and finally managed to do just that last night. Not just the moon rising though, managed to get a few good Milky Way shots off as well.

Throughout the night it felt like I was surrounded by an immense amount of native birds – Takahe, Kiwi, blue penguins etc, I felt very lucky to be there.
