'Wine Shine'

One thing that has been on my bucket list was to see and shoot some sort of Aurora, but knowing how rare it could be I never intended to see it so soon. Our trip around the South Island couldn't have been any more rewarding, with 3 clear skies and 3 excellent light shows within a matter of days! Big tick.

This night we stayed on Lake Dunstan, a bit North of Cromwell. Cromwell, and the area of Central Otago is where some of the best wines in the world are made. To me this Aurora was a sign, of, you know, great wine in the area.

Oh alright, we had already done a bit of wine tasting that day, and took a few bottles for this night. We watched the moon set and then the Aurora just exploded out of nowhere, then faded away. I could see the pillars with my eyes in this show, but it wasn;t as strong as the show we had in Bluff.
