Crazy Kitchen

This photo was shot with a Nikon Nikkor 28mm F2.8 AiS lens on a Fotodiox TLT RKR Tilt/Shift adapter. I don't recall the shutter speed (around 1/2 second; I used a 2 second delay to minimize vibration), and I believe f8 was used. I believe about 3.5 degrees of downward tilt was used to establish the focal plane. That should have allowed me to focus the lens to infinity, but infinity focus is off on this lens, I believe. Both the Fotodiox and a K&F adapter agree on this.

Anyhow, this is my first tilt photo made with a slight amount of knowledge behind it. I used a formula to calculate the rough amount of tilt that would be needed. Note that the top of the monitor, for instance, is not in focus, but the bottom is.

COVID forced office setup, with my family's passions in ample display, from photography to a stuffed Ferengi (sp?) to books, computers, beer etc. Normally my camera is on the table, too.

More on the lens: it has oil on the iris blades, and so I need to send it out for service. The seller swore the lens was "perfect" but actual drops of oil are not perfect. Also, sometimes the lens does not stop down. But after a $50 discount and a $100 estimate for a rebuild, I should have a really, really nice lens for use with the T/S adapter. Very excited to use this lens in the future.

Yes, there is no real composition that you can see here. It is cluttered and a mess. What you don't know is what it looked like 15-20 minutes before I took the photo!

Update: I shot the same scene with just depth of field, and it totally misses. I accidentally had uploaded here and when I previewed before making it public, I was "what the h***, this is aweful. But then I remembered shooting the normal photo at f11 or so. Yeah.

That's Dan Winters, "Road to Seeing" behind the beer glass. What a book. Hard to find. Keep looking and you will find a copy other than the $500 ones.
