Finally!
After three cancelled days in a row... Here is another from Saturday Morning.
The balloon festival actually went up again yesterday, for the final day of the event. It was a great morning… Briefly… A bunch of balloons went up. The most I have seen this week. I had 10 minutes of great shooting, and then the sun went behind a giant cloud and the light was gone. Balloon photos without any light on them just…. Suck!
After finally putting away the camera and giving up, I went down to the concessions tents to buy some breakfast. As I was walking around the Balloon Fiesta and listening to the (lame) announcers on the big PA system, talking about the festival. They were talking to one of the guys that started this whole event. This is the 40th year of the Balloon Fiesta.
It was a pretty entertaining interview.
He said… "Most of the rules in the Balloon Fiesta are because of me."
The other guy said "So… You wrote the rules?"
"No… I mean, most of the rules were made because of things I screwed up! Every time I crashed into something… Or got snagged in something. Every time I made a bad decision on a horrible place to land. And… Every time I destroyed something landing in a stupid place… They would say... "We'd better make a new rule so that nobody does THAT again." "
