Cat as Metaphor - a short story
This is Stripey our garden cat. She and another cat hang out near our building entrance, and we put out water for them. They eat at another neighbor's place. Stripey has been coming around for over a year and has never had kittens. We think she was neutered by a previous owner.
Our Thursday helper-cleaning woman feeds cats all over Jerusalem. She told us today about a neighborhood where cats and puppies are tortured, almost like that shockingly seen on CSI TV shows. Let me share that in my religious training as a teenager, we were taught that tsa'ar ba'alei chaim... inflicting harm on living creatures is a violation of the Torah.
Imagine a cat with a fur coat in the 90/f degree Jerusalem heat. How wonderful it would be to see more neighbors putting out water for the strays.
There's mostly light editing of the image above. Enjoy your Thursday!
