RML 2290 after arrival at Waterloo station

Looking immaculate following a good wash and brush-up in the Londoner Buses yard in Wandsworth, former London General RML 2290 is seen after its arrival at Waterloo station with the vehicle about to undertake another outward journey on Heritage Service A towards the likes of Westminster, Trafalgar Square and Piccadilly Circus on the early afternoon of Tuesday 21st February 2023. Back in the 1990s and early 2000s RML 2290 was the worst vehicle in Putney Garage's Routemaster allocation as back then its Iveco engine was vastly underpowered, where climbing up Putney Hill on route 14 with a full load was always a painfully slow affair. Since then RML 2290 has still retained its original 1990s Iveco engine but it has since received a major tune-up with the engine performing with a good turn of power and speed compared to the sluggish performer it was some 20-odd years ago when RML 2290 operated on routes 14 and 22 from Putney into London's bustling West End. Upon its last major overhaul at Aldenham Works RML 2290 carries the former body from RML 2377.
