Dwarf Waterdog
Necturus punctatus from North Carolina. This is the smallest species within its family (Proteidae), which includes other waterdogs and the mudpuppies. These are entirely aquatic salamanders, which is evidenced by the fact that even adults retain feathery gills throughout their lives. These salamanders live within creeks and streams, often deep within leaf litter/detritus (leaf packs).
