Guide Dogs for the Blind is the best client a commercial photographer could hope to find. This shot's a little candid for their needs, but I never leave this bi-weekly assignment without a tear in my eye.
Strobist info: 36-inch Norman softbox and Norman Allure head at half-power three or four feet from the dog, camera right. Directly left of the subjects is a floor-to ceiling book case with white doors -- automatic bounce fill! Camera was the Canon EOS 1D Mark III, ISO 100, shutter speed 1/200th of a second, f-stop set at 8.0. I used my 24mm f/2.8 for this job.
Opened in Adobe Bridge to pull hot highlights back a bit and to nudge the exposure up a quarter of a stop. Opened in Photoshop to crop to 8 by 12, set the dpi at 300, adjust levels and sharpen.
Opened in On1Software and added Davis Vignette twice, powder skin once, and davis bw wow portrait once.
