Buddha High Contrast 1

Beautiful Buddha head at HIGH CONTRAST. and candles. Shot on Kodak 2238 indoors at ISO 125. 3 to 8 seconds handheld. Shot with Nikon N90s and Sigma AF 17-35mm Zoom. Film was push processed past its typical ISO 12 - 25 by using a paper developer at high temperature. to get more extreme exposure. EI 125 is over 3 stops of underexposure. Contrast increased in post.

 

Developed in 1964 British Journal of Photography universal paper developer for 4 1/2 minutes at 100 degrees. Then an additional 60 minute Stand Development / Dual Development at room temperature with Kalogen (Rodinal would work similar) 1:60 dilution.

 

BJ Universal paper developer:

 

3.2 grams Metol

12.5 grams Hydroquinone

56 grams sodium sulfite

63 grams sodium carbonate anhyd

2 grams potassium bromide

water to 1 liter. Normal use with film is 1:4 dilution 2 to 4 minutes at 68 degrees F
