Persistence pays off.
After squealing to mum for a good length of time the persistence of this little one payed off when it was able to suckle. Baby elephants suckle from their mother for six months and then are gradually weened off her milk over the next year and a half. Our guide advised that this one was likely the best part of two years old so getting a feed for this one was probably getting harder.
