Crazy Clown Time

by Michael Goldrei (microsketch)

I've been intrigued by Joseph Grimaldi, father of the modern clowning movement, ever since I discovered that you can dance on his grave (www.flickr.com/photos/microsketch/5917067044/in/photostream/).

So when I learnt that a bunch of clowns would be heading to a church in Dalston today to celebrate his life, I thought I'd better head over there with my camera.

There were a real mix of traditional and modern clowns, young and old, and a very lively atmosphere. When the service started and silence had been requested, the clown next to me honked his horn, gestured as if I'd pinched his bum and loudly whispered "This is a church you know!".
