A bit of a late start yesterday, hampered by the early stages of rush hour traffic and the need to feed the car with petrol I eventually arrived at my chosen spot on Hadrians Wall. On the drive along the military road, stuck behind a school bus, I witnessed some wonderful pre-dawn hues in the sky behind me but by the time I arrived at Steel Rigg a substantial amount of cloud had moved across. For a while I was beginning to think i'd missed the best of the morning but I was treat to a few minutes of localised but intense sunrise colours.
