BSA CubeSat Demonstration Program (CDP)

Students carefully fill a large balloon with helium in preparation for launch during the BSA CubeSat Demonstration Program (CDP) on April 19, 2025, outside the Francois-Xavier Bagnoud Building, on the North Campus of the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. In the center is Aerospace Engineering Professor James Cutler. From left to right are Jardine Allen, president of the Black Students in Aerospace for 2024–25, Cynthia Deneus, an undergraduate student in aerospace engineering, James Cutler, Yemaya Presley, an undergraduate student in aerospace engineering, and Joshua Walker, an undergraduate student in aerospace engineering.

As part of the BSA CubeSat Demonstration Program, students designed and built small-scale satellite systems to collect and store atmospheric data. Supported by the MXL CubeSat Flight Lab and Blue Origin engineers, this hands-on project gave participants real-world experience in system design, fabrication, and flight testing.
