London&Country-DS24-N544TPK-Southall-280496b

London & Country assumed operation of London route 105 in April 1996, from a base at Greenford. The new Dennis Dart SLFs that they had ordered for the service were as usual late arriving, so operation was initially with step-entrance Darts.

East Lancs-bodied DS24 (N544 TPK) in Southall during the first week of operation on 28th April 1996.

After I’d taken this shot I went to the stop to catch the next bus to Greenford, and a guy in the queue started complaining to me (why he thought I was interested in his problems I don’t know) about how long he’d been waiting for a 105. When I pointed out to him that his wait was over for there was one just coming down the road, he said “No, that one’s green.”

Turned out he’d let about half-a-dozen 105s go without bothering to look at their displays because they were green.
