Centrewest-L238-P238NLW-Brooklands-060497b
The operation of route 105 was transferred from London & Country to Centrewest towards the end of November 1996, along with Dart SLF / Plaxton DSL25-36 on long-term loan; they retained their existing livery and branding and were numbered L225-36 by Centrewest.
However, they weren’t sufficient for the service (it actually had a pvr of 13 at the time) so three Dart SLF / East Lancs, DSL 38, 51, and 52, were also loaned from London & Country. They don’t appear to have been given Centrewest fleetnumbers, presumably indicating that they were only on short-term loan.
Centrewest took delivery of three new Dart SLF / Plaxton in March 1997 for route 105, which enabled DSL 38, 51, and 52 to be returned to London & Country. L237-239 were painted in the same duo green livery as L225-36 but without the red stripe.
I don’t have a photo of one of these on the 105, but L238 (P238 NLW) appeared at the Cobham open day on 6th April and is seen on route 491 duty at Brooklands.
