Everyone Clap Your Hands and Sing Along!
This is a cormorant flapping its wings and initiating the process of taking off in flight after floating in the water for a bit. The white specks you see in the water are seeds that have dropped from surrounding cottonwood trees, as it is "cottonwood season" around here in the Denver Area. This was taken in a pond along Clear Creek greenbelt in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. Looks like the rising of some sphinx from the cottonwood ashes! :)
