3/52 - Strings

Some of you may remember a photo shoot I did with my friend, Lauren, at a theatre in Switzerland. It was several months ago on day 162 of my 365 project. The reason for the shoot was because I wanted to create an image just like this one... just because.

This image was shot with my Nikon D90 and a combination of studio and theatrical lighting and then crafted in Photoshop CS5 with a pass through Noiseware SE at the end. The original image I shot is shown in the comments below.

You may be wondering why it took so long? Well, shortly after I shot the initial image(s), I moved out of Switzerland, went back to the U.S. for a few months, moved to Malta, got settled before heading back to the States for work and the holidays and then finally returned to Malta to my beloved quad-core with plenty of RAM so I could create this 41 layer, 150MB (in .psd) image. It gives me a valid five month excuse in the middle of the time between the shoot and now. Really. ;) In the interim, I enlisted the aid of this young lady who graciously shot some photos of her dolls in the position of the model so I could layer the joints into the image.

Cheers to the lovely model, Lauren, for working with me on this, ambernaddy for being so gracious and willing to take the doll photos for me and Toni and Stuart for talking me off the ledge when I was on the verge of overworking the piece earlier this evening.
