Silver Thread Falls

Silver Thread is easily one of the most unique looking falls I have encountered. It's a beautiful two-tiered 80' spill, which over the past 10,000 years has cut its way through vertical cracks in the shale that upon appearance, looks man made. After reading some material on the nps.gov website, I found that the only sculptor here was nature. Amazing.

Of course, you can't see that here :-) This was my take on the falls. I love panning and zooming and I thought this skinny waterfall would fit the bill nicely. It's my art dammit!

The image below in the comments is a 'regular' shot of the falls, but the perspective doesn't show too well the wonderfully natural sculpted walls of the chute. I was working on a better composition by wading in the pool at the bottom of the falls. That was....uh....after I slipped through the railings of the fence that keeps you on the trail, and out of the falls. I could feel the eyes burning a hole in my back. I nonchalantly tossed a glance over my shoulder knowing damn well I was busted. Sure enough, both hands on hips...head cocked...big 'ole Ranger hat on...'Nuff said :-)

HENRY POOLE IS HERE

I loved this movie.

After sending this off for a friend to see, they immediately pointed out The Blessed Mother. Yes folks, there really is a Virgin in the Pennsylvania Mountains! I knew there just had to be. So now, I'm expecting long lines of people.....My life is about to change...isn't it exciting?!
