Doornroosje (Sleeping Beauty). The first fairy tale on the official route through the fairytale forest is one of the ten first fairy tales at the opening in 1952.

When it became apparent in the early 1980s that the original castle was subsiding, it was decided to demolish the scene and rebuild it. The current structure dates from 1981. Now, 42 years later, the ravages of time have taken hold again.
Efteling wants to do something about this, starting with the stones on the stairs to the castle. They have become too slippery due to wear. "To prevent unsafe situations, this path is being tackled," says project leader Mark Elings. The immediate surroundings are also taken into account.
A few days after this photo the renovation started and the visitors were bypassed by a temporary path arpund this castle directly to the Kabouterdorp (Gnome Village)
Doornroosje
Doornroosje is the first fairytale in the route of the fairytale forest is also one of the oldest fairy tales in the history of De Efteling.

It is depicted with a castle on a hill, where visitors can climb up a staircase to look through windows through the bedroom where Doornroosje rests and the angry fairy sits on the spinning wheel. The chefs sleep in the kitchen.
