Osdorpplein - Amsterdam (Netherlands)

Osdorpplein 29/05/2020 14h16

A mini "Tramorama Series" about trams passing along their previous terminus loops after being extended to further resorts years ago. Part 5 today.

The extension to Osdorp Dijkgraafplein opened in 09/09/1962 and the loop at Osdorpplein was intended for diversions during disruptions and to return to the center of Amsterdam from here.

In 1971 tram line 17 was shortened to Surinameplein and line 1 took over the route to Osdorp. On 11/09/1988 line 17 came back to Osdorp but turned around at this point and made a loop around Osdorpplein counter clockwise. On 30/11/2000 the direction of was changed and line 17 circled clockwise around Osdorpplein. This terminus was abandoned on 08/12/2001. Tram line 17 continued (as from 1962 to 1971) to Dijkgraafplein and tram line was extended to De Aker. The piece of track in the foreground is all that is left of it.

This 2105 was delivered to the GVB on 26/09/2003 and first put into service on 22/10/2003, on line 25.
