101 Coffee Shop
The menu at 101 Coffee Shop features retro diner fare with a Southern California twist. Acclaimed Chef Brandon Boudet combines the best of the Hollywood Farmer’s Market with hearty yet simple classics. Signature items include Cajun Catfish and Eggs; The 101 Salad with Corn, Beets, Edamame and Green Beans; and Grilled Tandoori Salmon Sandwich with Cucumber Yogurt on Pumpernickel, along with more traditional diner favorites like Silver Dollar Buttermilk Pancakes; Meatloaf; and the Tuna Melt. For selective vegetarian and vegan diners, the menu also features selections such as the No Huevos Rancheros, a spicy vegan play on the classic brunch dish with a scramble of tofu, soy chorizo, corn and peppers.; Mushroom Taquitos; and Macaroni and Cheese. To end the meal, the 101 has sweet treats like the Black Eye Milkshake with vanilla ice cream and espresso or the Waffle Brownie Sundae.
The look of the 101 Coffee Shop was carefully designed by Warner Ebbink after extensive research of coffee shops of the 1960’s and ‘70’s. From the stone wall behind the retro brown leather booths to the counter that extends through most of the space, the hipster residents of Hollywood are transported to a funky diner straight out of the late 1960’s. Photographs of both Warner Ebbink and Brandon Boudet’s friends and families complete the feeling with big hair, bellbottoms and knee socks hearkening back to the style the era.
The hotel and space housing the 101 Coffee Shop has been popular in Hollywood since it opened in the late 1930’s. Celebrities through the decades have visited the space and countless movies and television shows have featured the 101 for its unique décor and cool Hollywood vibe.
