Australias White Pointers

7DOS - There's that sand texture again.

There are 2 types of white pointer in Australia.

The great white shark also known as a white pointer, is arguably the world's largest known extant macropredatory fish and is known to prey upon a variety of other marine animals including fish, pinnipeds, and seabirds, and is ranked first in a list of number of recorded attacks on humans.

On the PLUS side, humans are not appropriate prey because shark's digestion is too slow to cope with the human's high ratio of bone to muscle and fat.

Accordingly, in most recorded attacks, great whites broke off contact after the first bite. Fatalities are usually caused by blood loss from the initial limb injury rather than from critical organ loss or from whole consumption.

My state, Queensland has the unenviable record for the highest number of recorded shark attacks with a total of 301, 89 fatal,186 injured and 26 no injuries. Oh joy.

The other type of white pointer is a lot more common, and while it is not normally lethal, there may be serious repercussions if it is unexpectardly encountered in the wild.

WARNING - If you are easily disturbed by the condition of wildlife stranded on rocks, do NOT look at the shot below of the other type of white pointer. You have been warned.

A day at the BEACH :-)
