Vertical Multifunctionalariasmality
The walkway/bikeway underneath the freeway in the city centre of Brisbane.
The Riverside Freeway is overhead, and so is Queen Street just to the right and the river just to the left of the post.
During a working day, this bikeway is a freeway in itself, and pedestrians would be well advised to be very careful, preferably walk up top.
The colour is a real eye popper in what is otherwise a rather dismal underbelly.
Queen STREET
Bridges and Tunnels Theme
EDIT:
This part of the bikeway is on the only available land and just part of a long pathway. It is a bit weird riding under here, but not uncomfortable.
You can see at the end, it opens up and gets brighter. There had been some construction work being done on the bikeway , and the sign saying it was closed had not been removed. During construction, riders would have taken the ramp on the RHS to the top to detour.
I rode along here after buying my new bike last September, and did a lengthy trip all the way to the St Lucia University, and by the time I got back home I was buggered.
Here is a link to a shot taken further down.
