100% Dodge Example
Here is not what to do, but is an example of using 100% opacity, to fully reveal the exposure adjustment made in step 1.
To do it properly, set the opacity of the levels layer to between 15 - 30% so that a gradual adjustment is achieved, giving a smoother effect.
Set the primary colour in the colour picker to white. Select the pen tool, select a soft edged brush suitably sized depending on the area to be adjusted, and start wiping white across the area to be adjusted.
I kept wiping the top area until the adjustment layer was fully revealed across the top, and partially revealed just above the middle.
