The Wizard Nebula (NGC 7380) - First Night
It looks like after a couple weeks of cloudy skies, we are getting 2 nights in a row that will be mostly cloud free. Within this window, I decided to tackle the Wizard Nebula (NGC 7380). The NGC 7380 complex is located at a distance of approximately 8,500 light-years from the Sun, in the Perseus Arm of the Milky Way. It takes some imagination to see the wizard with his pointed hat, face in-profile with a pointed noise and one star forming his right eye, and finally his spread arms with his left arm and hand being formed by some darker dust against the bright glow of the nebula. This image is a Ha-OIII-OIII (aka HOO) Narrowband image that has been color corrected to make it more natural looking. I'm going to get another night of narrowband data along with some broadband data and see if I can improve the details or color of this image.
