The offwhitewashed wall at Nasrid Palace

I imagine this might have been whitewashed hundreds of years ago, it's now faded to a muddy yellow.

 

I think this area caught my eye in the Nasrid Palaces - it was one of the few places that wasn't decorated, patterned, or crowded, just looked like an old street somewhere.

 

Later found out the reason, the "Mocarabes" was once decorated with the usual ornamental design but one day there was a gunpowder explosion and most of it was lost. Not an uncommon story from those days, similar to production data loss stories we hear today.
