Exhorting
According to THE DAILY TARHEEL, UNC's daily campus newspaper (9/9/11), this is Gary Birdsong, street preacher. On Thursday the 8th, Gary was exhorting a crowd of students at The Pit, the campus's free speech center. According to the paper, Gary has a large repertoire of subjects about which he preaches, ranging from heaven and hell to drug use, gender roles, premarital sex, homosexuality, Islam, atheism, feminism, rock and rap music, evolution, tolerance, fashion, and witchcraft. The newspaper article featured a photo by Jade Poteat. My picture was taken without knowledge that the paper covered him, and I was delighted to see it, get his name, and a bit about the themes of his homilies! I didn't stop to listen. I wonder what I missed!?
