Chilean Puya

These fellows are blooming at the UC Botanical Garden. Native to the Andes range in S.A., they seem to have adjusted here. They bloom irregularly on extremely tall flower spikes. I watched a squirrel devouring the tiny flower. . . . This one's yellow; most are blue. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Puya_chilensis?wprov=sfti1
