Tràigh Bheag Beach, Isle of Harris, Scotland
UK & International Landscape Photography Workshops & 1-2-1 Private Tuition Days
Yesterday, I took my six lovely clients along to my favourite beach on the island, Tràigh Bheag, which nestles next door to Borve beach, which is arguably more well known.
Why is this my favourite beach? Well, there are a variety of rocks that look beautiful, all shiny, smooth and very dark in colour when wet, which contrasts very well with the dark golden sand. Also, the beach is shelved to the point that when the tide sweeps down and out around the rocks, the rollers breaking in the background add drama and interest to the image.
You just have to be careful of sneaker waves here but everyone was briefed by me on the dangers of leaving camera bags on the beach (fear of being washed away) and to never leave their tripod and cameras in case they are knocked over by a decent sneaker wave. Safety is absolutely paramount when photographing anywhere but especially by the sea. My time in Iceland has taught me well.
I am really looking forward to returning to Harris and Lewis to run two back to back workshops in November. If you're interested in joining me (assuming that everything is back to normal by then. Fingers crossed), click on the link below for details.
