Now I know for a fact that some of you will be sitting there thinking 'Oh dear, Melvin's gone and lost the plot' and in the main you would be right, lol. However during a recent visit to the gorgeous beach at Hushinish on the Isle of Harris, I stood there at my tripod for a good five minutes just looking around and taking stock of the sheer beauty before me.
I remember thinking to myself just how lucky I was to be able to be a full time landscape photographer and how it afforded me such amazing opportunities to travel when I wanted (well between workshops, One-to-Ones and camera club talks of course) and to discover such gorgeous places such as this wonderful little beach.
As I looked down from my twenty foot high rock ledge, I noticed a little stump sticking up from the sand and I thought how small and delicate it looked among the much larger waves that were rolling up and down the beach. Then I noticed the patterns of the water and the wonderful way that the small waves formed as the water rolled back into a small incoming wave. I was transfixed and almost hypnotised just watching this action repeat itself over and over again.
Then I wondered just how long that lovely little stump had been there, surviving all that is throw at it and how resilient it must be to survive. The wonders of nature amaze me when I stop and look around. It is just one of the many reasons why I do what I do for a living. I am so fortunate indeed.
Have a great night folks :D
