Haverwerf - Oats Warf

Riverside wharf where oats were shipped and traded from the 14th century onwards. 3 stunning traders' houses reflect the time when Mechelen raised taxes on the salt, oats, and fish that was transported along the Dyle. The central building "De Duiveltjes" (The Little Devils) is a rare survivor of 16th century wood fronted architecture. On the left is the St. Joseph house (17th century) and on the right is Het Paradijske (The Little Eden, 16th century) with carvings depicting the Expulsion of Adam and Eve from the Garden of Eden. - In & Uit Mechelen Tourism
