1/52 of Barney
Recently, I had someone tell me that Barney reminded them of the wizard, Gandalf, from Lord of the Rings! I can sort of see what they meant - with those greying eyebrows & that rather impressive shaggy mane of his, which could look a bit like a long bushy beard ;-) Perhaps I should buy him a pipe & a pointy hat! Of course, Barney does generally only manage to maintain the thoughtful, dignified "wise old man" look for quite short periods of time - usually when he's been asked to sit still. Once free, Barney can most often be found squealing happily to himself, while bouncing up & down in a muddy stream or puddle.
I can hardly believe it, but 2015 will be our 4th year participating in the 52 Weeks for Dogs group & I think most of you will already know Barney - I even recognise quite a few of the new members (including some from Tumblr!). However, for those that don't know him:
Barney's an 8 year old "2nd hand" border collie. He came to me in 2008, directly from the previous owners, as a 15 month old adolescent. The poor pup had rather a lot of behavioural issues back then (including nervous aggression towards strangers). He's my 1st dog, so we've had to learn together but these days, Barn's just a great dog to have around - happy, inquisitive, eager to please & he even likes meeting new people. The one thing we do still struggle with is noise sensitivities - he hates sudden bangs, even when they're almost inaudible! My little shadow & a natural born poser :)
