Chalk lettuce - Dudleya pulverulenta

Dudleya pulverulenta is native to the southwestern United States and northern Mexico. Grows best in part shade on rock shelves for good drainage. Plant rosette at angle so water will drain off the crown and you have a good rock garden plant. The epidermis of the plant is covered with a dense coating of chalky, powdery wax. Flowers appear on long slender white stems. An attractive California native perfect for xeriscaping.
